Happy Valentine's Day lovely people! Hope you are all having a beautiful day, and if you celebrate this day then hope you were spoiled and did some spoiling yourself! My darling eldest kiddos made me the sweetest Valentine's Cards and hub came through as usual, bless him!
Now on to Tutorial Tuesday - still following the 'Hearts & Flowers' theme, today I will be doing a Rustic Coffee Jar Vase, to put your dozen red roses in (come on, I know you had some ;)!)
You will need:
A large clean glass coffee jar (I used Douwe Egberts),
A piece of jute/hessian/burlap to wrap around the jar,
Garden twine,
Piece of red felt,
Hole punch,
Scissors,
Hot glue gun & glue or strong glue,
Piece of red ribbon,
Step 1:
Heat up your glue gun if using. Measure a piece of jute fabric to fit around your jar - mine measured 9cm x 36cm (which overlapped a bit). Run a line of glue down the back of the jar and attach one short edge of the jute fabric...
...bring the fabric around and glue the other edge down, overlapping the already glued edge...
Step 2:
Cut a heart out of red felt - mine was 9cm tall to match the width of the jute...
...fold the heart in half and using a hole punch cut out holes along the outside edge. (Make sure you don't cut too near the edge.)...
...open back up and thread a piece of garden twine in and out of the holes...
...tie the ends of the twine in a little bow...
...glue the heart onto the front of the jar...
Step 3:
Run a line of glue around the neck of the jar, wrap garden twine around it, gluing as needed...
Step 4:
Underneath the twine, glue a length of red ribbon...
...cut off the excess.
Step 5:
Glue some twine and ribbon onto the upside down lid...
(You can then use it as a tea-light holder - be safe and don't leave unattended.)
Step 6:
Fill vase with your chosen flowers or decoration and display...
...red Carnations and single Glitter Heart Pick...
...or Berry Garland and 2 Glitter Heart Picks. (Would look good at Christmas too!)
VoilĂ a lovely Rustic Coffee Jar Vase, perfect for Valentine's Day!
If anyone was wondering about the Valentine's Subway Art in the background, then I downloaded it from Social Salutations, printed it out and placed in in a glass clip frame and added red braid to the frame and a few heart embellies...
...perfect for adding a touch of lovely fun to your V day display!
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and that it has got your creative juices flowing. Have fun and see what pretty vases you can create!
Right, I'm off to snuggle with my kiddos and watch 'Gnomeo & Juliet' - a perfect family film for Valentine's Day!
Whatever you are doing today enjoy!
Happy Valentine's Day!
xoxo
